The Short Story.

Not all relationships are meant to last forever.
Even when you're in love.
Some love stories are short stories.
But they are love stories, all the same.

GREEK, Season 3! the show i've been trying to get some people to watch with me to no avail
:(. well, i recently finished watching episode 18, and i guess i seem to oftentimes attach myself to random quotes, so to speak. but this one really stuck out to me. reason? not sure; probably because it fit so well with what the characters in the show were going through. in any case, i may derive the most random thoughts from these adjoined sentences, but they made me think of how..sometimes, we're just so scared or arrogant or skeptical that instead of even trying to write an amazing chapter in our lives, whether it be related to integrating ourselves into a completely new environment or going against the odds to pursue a dream or finding love - we back down. drop the pen. cause we just don't want to go through with something that might not even 'work'. that might 'hurt' us. that might simply turn out to be a 'complete waste of time'. but honestly, what would be so awesome about life if you just let it pass you by? where's the excitement, the unpredictability? i've got to admit, i'm not one to testify about taking risks. but it's a day-to-day adventure, and i'm learning. maybe i'll stumble and fall. maybe i'll get more than i ever could've imagined. what i'm saying is, some chapters in our lives may not turn out as perfect as a movie. some may simply turn out to be short stories. who knows? it's a long book. but when all's written and recorded, short stories are still stories; nothing's gonna be a 'waste of time'.
and in the end, the journey is the destination.

The "Far Enough" Animals.

Humans are the only animals that laugh and weep; for they are the only animals that are struck with the difference between what things are and what they ought to be.

so when we went to the dragonboat festival thing, we came across the "Far Enough Farm" [i don't understand why they'd call it that, but we assumed this name referred to how it took a 'far enough' walk to get to the farm? hahah]. anyways, here's some of the animals that sit around over there.

the peacock wouldn't spread its feathers, but it was still amazingly beautiful.

and omg, they had the cutest bunny ever.

The Dragonboat Festival.

Take a look around you,
Let it all surround you,
Another picture for your memory.
In the blink of an eye,
We're faced with goodbye,
This chapter's closing on our history;
And we'll remain,
'Til the pages fade.

a couple of my friends and i went on a trip to centre island last saturday to take a look at the dragonboats. well, we didn't really end up watching them, it was more like taking a tour around the island and whatnot. so, i kinda took pictures of really random things along the way. and i think they turned out pretty cool :), so here's some of them...

oh, and as for the weatherman's forecast of rain, rain, and rain on saturday - totally wrong! although there were some clouds at the start of the trip, they soon drifted away.

haha, and this picture was taken in the ferry boat... i was pointing my camera at the life jackets, not random people :(...

and lastly, a picture of jeffrey's sunglasses! pretty cool eh [the picture of course, not the sunglasses or the owner! kiddding].

The Nursery.

We all start out in kindergarten
thinking we can be anything we want to be.
And by the time we get here,
we've all lost that feeling. We've all started to believe
whatever our friends or our parents have told us
about what we can achieve in life and who we can be.
And we've completely forgotten about the possibility we had
when we were younger.

finally, i've noticed my church's newly (well, it was new a couple months ago..) painted nursery! and i thought it was the cutest room ever, so i decided to take a few not-so-good pictures of it with my little camera :) since i had to wait for my parents to finish singing or something anyways. now i just have to learn how these people painted on these walls so perfectly :(..

The Toy Guitar.

You know the words 'Once upon a time'
Make you listen, there's a reason.
And when you dream, there's a chance you'll find
A little laughter, or happy ever after.
You're harmony to the melody
That's echoing inside my head.
A single voice above the noise
Like a common thread...

so, i've known for a relatively long time that post-it notes and laundry clippers are two great inventions that serve many functions. but as a guitar capo? well, i guess there's always going to be 'interesting' people who think up innovative, 'interesting' uses for various household items... :\ haha, and oh, how he loves that little 'toy' guitar. can you believe he's actually playing it in these photos? hmm, not likely :). [thankfully, he can't see this post in china.]

Much Ado About Nothing.

That what we have, we prize not to the worth
Whiles we enjoy it, but being lack'd and lost,
Why, then we rack the value, then we find
The virtue that possession would not show us
Whiles it was ours.

much ado about nothing. shakespeare, if you couldn't figure it out already. now, i know i hate reading quite a fair bit; but i have to say, shakespeare is quite a fair bit interesting. in any case, i didn't read the book just out of boredom or extended leisure times, my brother actually has an english exam. tomorrow morning. studying? i'd give that a 0.5/10, to put it gently. i mean, he doesn't even have the books, haha? well anyways, i decided to read up on the book, make some notes i guess. and i came across this quote :). shakespearean illiterates, it's basically a long-winded version of "you never know what you got 'til it's gone". which i can agree with, for the most part. not that you never know, but that you just don't find things as great of a treasure as they really are until you lose them.

look at him, so intently studying...obviously :\ haha.
ps. cuba! best place to make footprints in the sand :)

The Pencil.

If you've ever had one of those times when you've clutched a pencil or something else in your hand for a long time only to look down and be surprised that you were still holding it long after your need for it had passed, you'll understand that, sometimes, we get so used to holding on, we forget to let go.

The Sunset.

It's funny how one moment
can change your entire life.
It's scary how decisions we make today
can come and haunt us for the rest of our lives.
Sometimes, you have to stop and remember,
you're not going to live forever.
Enjoy life while you have the time,
be young, think smart, stay true,
and just follow your heart.
Take nothing but pictures.
Leave nothing but footprints.
Kill nothing but time.

i was just going through my old pictures today, and discovered the one above :) it was taken right after my biology[?] midterm during freshman year. yes, that [shall i say boring?] midterm actually made me feel like running up to my room, grabbing my camera, and then running out to the lake before the sunset disappeared. i take it to have been nature's gift during a dreary school period? haha anyways, it just made me think of how we're so engrossed in all the randomness of life that, sometimes, we miss the amazing little snapshots embedded in it.
